Question: Are you typically working on a salary basis, an hourly wage basis, any performance based aspect? How does that all work?
Jennifer:
Answer: So out of my experience, everything is always hourly. I have anyone who has ever been salaried at all. It doesn’t go off of performance to say, if I only work tomorrow and I do work at a orthopedics center in addition to the hospital where I work out. But say if I only take three x-rays that day, like I’m not only getting paid for the 3x rays, like I’m getting my actual eight, nine hours of being there regardless of how much work I’ve done or not. In that sense, though, because you are being paid hourly, you’re not being compensated off of just what you’ve done. You know, if I’m not busy taking in an x ray, then I’m going to help out somebody else. Do the office?
Farrel:
Answer: Obviously I’ve only been in the field for a couple of years and I’ve worked in a couple of places. Everybody generally works off of an hourly wage. Mean sometimes you might get a bonus just from your company if they decide to give you one. But if you get up into the lead technologist roles, you might get a salary. But most people work off of an hourly wage.
Jenna:
Answer: I’ve never heard of salary based in this field. Maybe if you’re a manager or a director for the department, but not just as a general X-ray check, at least in the state of Florida. I haven’t met anyone with a salary. Often it’s hourly. And then I know some mobile companies will do per exam. I’ve heard of that more. From a Sonography standpoint, I can’t really provide too much information about xray, what they do, whether that’s hourly or occurred exam.
